- Register online at biobank.cy/book-your-appointment.
The participation procedure takes approximately 40 minutes, and appointments can be scheduled between 9:00 and 14:00 at our facilities at Shacolas Educational Center for Clinical Medicine or 89 Kennedy Avenue, Nicosia.
Step 2: Preparation for the appointment
Preparation for the appointment can be accomplished in the following ways:
Abstinence from food for 12 hours, 8 hours, or 2 hours. It is acceptable and advised to drink water before the appointment.
Bringing the first-morning urine to the Biobank in a sterile container kept dry and cool is advised. Alternatively, the urine sample can be collected during the appointment.
Step 3: Providing Justification and Signing the Consent Form
The knowledgeable and skilled nursing team will clarify the program’s objectives and respond to any questions. This follows the signing of the required Biobank Participation Consent Form.
Step 4: Questionnaire and Health History
Participants will answer demographic questions and information regarding their lifestyle and sleeping patterns. Medical history is obtained as the next stage.
Step 5: Body Composition Analysis and Biometric Data Collection
Biometric information, such as height, weight, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and waist circumference measurement, is also recorded along with a body composition analysis (e.g., body fat measurement).
Step 6: Blood and Urine Collection
It is recommended that you bring the first-morning urine with you. If this is not possible, you will be asked to make a small contribution during your visit. You will then be asked to contribute a small amount of blood (approx. 40ml) as part of the blood collection procedure.
Step 7: Dissemination of Results and Updates
You will receive free communication of the outcomes of helpful haematological and biochemical analyses in a short period.
Personal genetic results will not be shared with you since the samples will be used in research projects.
By signing the biobank.cy Contact Form, you will be provided with the appropriate Center’s Quarterly Newsletter or other useful information about the activities of the Center of Excellence.
