The Centre of Excellence (CoE) biobank.cy hosts multiple research projects that span the areas of kidney, lung, heart, obesity and biobanking education, and combine genetic, molecular, cellular, and clinical approaches, including the development of a preclinical model for a rare kidney disease.  

Additionally, the Center is being developed through the European infrastructure project CY-Biobank and participates in numerous pan-European consortia, such as the Genome of Europe (GoE) and Genomic Data Infrastructure (GDI) projects. 

Research at the Centre is primarily supported by the European Commission (EC), the University of Cyprus (UCY), the Cyprus Government (CY), which includes the Research and Innovation Foundation (RIF) and the Broad Institute of MIT & Harvard among others.
