The Research and Internationalization Office aims to support and enhance Centre of Excellence (CoE) biobank.cy’s research landscape through four core objectives: elevating research excellence, expanding global reach, developing research capacity, and driving innovation. Each objective aligns with biobank.cy’s mission to advance scientific research and improve human health. 

Elevating Research Excellence 

The office fosters high-impact research by organizing brainstorming sessions, focus groups, and thematic seminars to spark innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration. Regular workshops encourage researchers to explore emerging scientific challenges, prioritize groundbreaking projects, and pursue high-risk, high-reward research in biomedicine, genomics, and related fields. 

Expanding Global Reach 

A key priority is building strategic international partnerships to strengthen biobank.cy’s global presence. By participating in international networking events (e.g., Match4Health, Horizon Europe brokerage sessions), the office facilitates collaborative research projects and international grant proposals, increasing access to global resources, funding, and consortia opportunities. 

Developing Research Capacity 

The office enhances biobank.cy’s CoE research capacity through training programs on grant writing, proposal development, and interdisciplinary collaboration. It will provide support to early-career researchers, helping them secure funding and build impactful projects. Through workshops and seminars, the office fosters a culture of innovation, entrepreneurship, and knowledge translation. 

Driving Innovation 

Encouraging interdisciplinary collaborations across biomedicine, data science, engineering, and public health, the office supports researchers in transforming their findings into practical and industrial applications. By promoting entrepreneurship and soft skills development, it empowers researchers to bridge the gap between scientific discovery and real-world solutions.
